Dr. Horrible lyrics - Brand New Day

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

And since I was on a roll, here’s Brand New Day (Ninth Song)

This appeared as a moral dilemma
‘Cause at first it was weird that
I swore to eliminate the worst of the plague
That devoured humanity
It’s true, I was vague on the how–
So how can it be that you
Have shown me the light?

It’s a brand new day
And the sun is high
All the birds are singin’
That you’re gonna die
How I hesitated
Now I wonder why
It’s a brand new day

All the times that you beat me unconscious
I’ll forgive
All the crimes incomplete, listen–
Honestly, I’ll live
Mr. Cool, Mr. Right, Mr. Know-it-all is through!
And now the future’s so bright
And I owe it all to you
To show me the light
It’s a brand new me
I got no remorse
Now the water’s rising
But I know the course!
I’m gonna shock the world
Gonna show Bad Horse
It’s a brand new day

And Penny will see the evil me
Not a joke, not a dork, not a failure
And she may cry but her tears will dry
When I hand her the keys to a shiny new Australia

It’s a brand new day
Yeah the sun is high
All the angels sing
Because you’re gonna die
Go ahead and laugh
Yeah I’m a funny guy
Tell everyone goodbye

It’s a brand new day…

Dr. Horrible lyrics - Slipping

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Because I was thinking about doing it for a while, and then Mowse [what do you want me to link to, hmm?] said she didn’t follow it because it went too fast, so now I’ve gone and done it.

I know this might bring more traffic than I’m accustomed to, so behave! I reserve the right to moderate any and all comments I find offensive or insulting. And don’t give me any bullshit about free speech and the first amendment, buddy. I’m not a public entity, and this isn’t public space (thanks, Scott).

Oh, and corrections are welcome.

Now, without further ado–

Slipping (the Twelfth Song)

Look at these people
Amazing how sheep’ll show up for the slaughter
No one condemning you
Lined up like lemmings you led to the water
Why can’t they see what I see
Why can’t they hear the lies
Maybe the fee’s too pricey for them to realize
Your disguise is…slipping
I think you’re slipping

Now that your savior is still as the grave
You’re beginning to fear me
Like cavemen fear thunder
I still have to wonder,
Can you really hear me?
I bring you pain, the kind you can’t suffer quietly
Fire up your brain, remind you inside your rioting society
Is slipping
Everything’s slipping away, so–

Go ahead! Run away! Say it was Horrible
Spread the word! Tell a friend–tell them the tale…
Get a pic! Do a blog! Heroes are over with
Look at him, not a word! Anarchy nailed

Then I win! Then I get
Everything I ever–
All the cash! All the fame! And social change
Anarchy! Then I run–
It’s Dr. Horrible’s turn
You people all have to learn
This world is going burn
Burn!
Burn!
[Yeah, it’s two R’s–H, O, R, R [unintelligible]
BURN!

No sign of Penny, good
I would anything not to have her see
It’s gonna be bloody
Head up, Billy Buddy
There’s no time for mercy
Here goes no mercy….

Return from Comic-Con

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

Back from SDCC. Not quite as bone-wearyingly tired as I have been in previous years, but somehow feeling like I accomplished a good deal this weekend. Ask me tomorrow and I’ll tell you whether or not that feeling is delusional.

Of course, we shoot Neighbors Are Friends (new film, yay!) in a couple of weeks. Which means STRAIGHT BACK TO THE GRINDSTONE.

/me must get off Google Reader. Also, Vee needs a twitter.

(Re?)learning Los Angeles

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

Spent yesterday [Friday] zipping between West Hollywood and Santa Monica, passing and taking lots of streets that you always see as the iconic LA streets (and the Beach Boys song).

Who knew that the Yahoo Center, MTV networks, and Sony/BMG were all within blocks of each other on Santa Monica Blvd?

Missed opportunity?

Boss handed me an invitation to the Cassina/Angeleno Magazine furniture launch last week. It’s supposed to be a cocktail party tonight, but I was iffy on driving into LA proper. Then, when I was thinking about going today, I saw that it required an RSVP. Oh well. I’ll probably see photos on the design blogs in a bit, anyway. -wistful-

Announcing a new section

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

As it appears that I have had the movie/film industry on the brain, I’ll try and record any thoughts here for future reflection and processing. I’m thinking a label like “Adventures in Tinseltown.”

As an intro, I’m currently working at…well, on second thought, let’s hold that information for a bit. I’ve not taken especial precautions to shroud my identity in secret, and I know this industry runs on name recognition and credits, so I anticipate a “big reveal” some time in the future. For now, let’s see what pops out of my brain, shall we?

Will mention, though, that I work down the street from what used to be Chiat-Day headquarters–the Frank Gehry designed entrance (pre-wavy metal sheeting phase). And yesterday, I was logging footage at the foot of the Hollywood Sign, around the corner from the Pantages.
