Return from Comic-Con

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

Back from SDCC. Not quite as bone-wearyingly tired as I have been in previous years, but somehow feeling like I accomplished a good deal this weekend. Ask me tomorrow and I’ll tell you whether or not that feeling is delusional.

Of course, we shoot Neighbors Are Friends (new film, yay!) in a couple of weeks. Which means STRAIGHT BACK TO THE GRINDSTONE.

/me must get off Google Reader. Also, Vee needs a twitter.

(Re?)learning Los Angeles

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

Spent yesterday [Friday] zipping between West Hollywood and Santa Monica, passing and taking lots of streets that you always see as the iconic LA streets (and the Beach Boys song).

Who knew that the Yahoo Center, MTV networks, and Sony/BMG were all within blocks of each other on Santa Monica Blvd?

Missed opportunity?

Boss handed me an invitation to the Cassina/Angeleno Magazine furniture launch last week. It’s supposed to be a cocktail party tonight, but I was iffy on driving into LA proper. Then, when I was thinking about going today, I saw that it required an RSVP. Oh well. I’ll probably see photos on the design blogs in a bit, anyway. -wistful-

Announcing a new section

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

As it appears that I have had the movie/film industry on the brain, I’ll try and record any thoughts here for future reflection and processing. I’m thinking a label like “Adventures in Tinseltown.”

As an intro, I’m currently working at…well, on second thought, let’s hold that information for a bit. I’ve not taken especial precautions to shroud my identity in secret, and I know this industry runs on name recognition and credits, so I anticipate a “big reveal” some time in the future. For now, let’s see what pops out of my brain, shall we?

Will mention, though, that I work down the street from what used to be Chiat-Day headquarters–the Frank Gehry designed entrance (pre-wavy metal sheeting phase). And yesterday, I was logging footage at the foot of the Hollywood Sign, around the corner from the Pantages.
